‘Revenge video clip’ leads to arrest of bedoun

KUWAIT CITY, May 30: Security authorities have arrested a bedoun, identified as Ali Abdullah Al-Shammari (born in 1976) and who appeared in a video clip on the social media beating, verbally abusing and humiliating a 36-year-old Egyptian Ashraf Abu Alyameen Jaber Sweilem, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior said the incident dates back to a year-and-a-half; also arrested is an Egyptian, identified as Mohammad Awais Abdulqawi Mabrouk, 33, for filming the incident and posting on the social media. A security source said the bedoun owes the Egyptian who filmed the incident KD 14,000 and the court has ruled in favor of the Egyptian.

When the bedoun refused to pay the money, the Egyptian threatened to post the incident (beating of the victim) on the social network to take a revenge on the bedoun. The victim has been summoned by the police to file a complaint and know more details about this disgraceful incident before referring the accused to the Public Prosecutor.

The source added, the victim had not filed a complaint when he was beaten and that he was working for a cell phone shop owned by the bedoun who was trading in stolen cell phones without the knowledge of the salesman.
