KUWAIT CITY, May 18: Director General of Residency Affairs Major General Talal Marafi has floated two new tenders for different kinds of visa stamps and residency-related stickers that are technically advanced and secure against any form of forgery or second copy, reports Al-Qabas daily. As per recent directives from the Assistant Undersecretary for Passport and Citizenship Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al- Jarrah, any head of a Kuwaiti family (business owner) is entitled to bring only one Bangladeshi domestic worker (laborer), Major General Marafi added.

He pointed out that the applicant should not have excess number of domestic workers on his sponsorship. He must possess housing documents and not a piece of land. He should be able to offer a suitable accommodation, pay the salaries of his domestic workers in time, and should be clear of previous absconding cases against any Bangladeshi laborer.

Al-Marafi added the new directives empower the directors of residency affairs departments in all six governorates to approve transactions that fulfill all conditions without the need to turn to the Director General or Assistant Undersecretary. He called for Directors of Residency Affairs to restrict the issuance of family visit visas, especially for marginal workers in the holy month of Ramadan. He pointed to serious coordination with the General Residency Investigation Department to arrest and deport beggars, and suspend the files of their sponsors.
