Request to reopen doors for Pakistani citizens under study: Al-Sabeeh; Focus on skilled, specialized workers in medicine, engineering fields

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Minister of Social Affairs and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh disclosed about the legal and security measures that Ministry of Interior is working on completing in coordination with the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to reopen doors for Pakistani workers to return to Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.

She stressed that the agreement between the two governments includes bringing in skilled and specialized workers in the fields of medicine and engineering.

Al-Sabeeh shed light on the request to reopen doors for Pakistani workers to return to Kuwait, indicating that this request is being studied in line with security framework of the country. She affirmed about the ongoing cooperation in this regard with Pakistani officials.

Meanwhile, officials from Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor revealed that a number of young employees of the ministry are preparing to organize a sit-in in front of the Minister Hind Al-Sabeeh’s office next Monday in protest against the implementation of fingerprint system for inspectors in the ministry, reports Al-Nahar daily.

They explained that the organizers of the protest have given the fingerprint issue top priority in their demands, indicating that a group has been formed for coordinating on latest developments related to their work. They have circulated a letter, a copy of which was obtained by the daily.

The letter includes all their demands such as the fingerprint issue, bonuses and allowances. Regarding the fingerprint system, which has been made mandatory for all employees to use at the end of the working day, the officials indicated that such a decision is not feasible and must be stopped indefinitely.
