Registration rate of pilgrims for Hajj hits 70%

KUWAIT CITY, May 6: While the pilgrimage caravans approved in the country opened for those wishing to register for the performance of the rituals this year, the Ministry of Awqaf began early preparations in coordination with the Ministry of Hajj of Saudi Arabia, and will close the registration when it reaches the allowed number of pilgrims, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Sources said the registration rate has reached 70% so far and the first caravan will leave for the Holy Land in the first week of August. A total of 52 caravans have been approved, 30 of which are individual, 8 pilgrimage caravans, and 22 combined. The number of pilgrims per caravan is 100 pilgrims.

According to the daily the caravans have committed themselves to placing advertisements that set prices and services that will be provided to the pilgrims as well as to ensure that the registration procedures are completed without any hindrance.

With the launch of the affordable Hajj mechanism, the Ministry of Awqaf has set the price at KD 1,300, priority has been given to the elderly and those who have never been on a pilgrimage. The prices of the caravans vary according to the services and the rooms. The average price ranges between KD 1,750 and 2,200.
