KUWAIT CITY, July 20: With the double round robin elimination stage approaching the halfway mark, a razor sharp Cozmo Salmiya continued to boost their comeback bid by trouncing the beleaguered World Class Keglers in their scheduled tenth week match at the on-going 2017 Season 11 FTBK Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament. Overpowering their respective rivals after dishing out equally impressive pin busting in this sporting event held every Friday at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya and organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers Kuwait (FTBK) were Rock N Bowl, Siete Pares 2, IBL TEAM 2, K2E2 Thunders and D’ Islanders. Looking at the current standings, IBL Team 1 and 2 continued to dominate the leader board with the rest of the contenders hotly contesting the other four slots in the Top 6.

Clearly in the same tip top shape they were in their ninth week stint against the DMDA Bowleros, the entertainment magnates of Cozmo Salmiya proved too hot to handle for the World Class Keglers in their tenth week match. Bolting out of the starting gate like a thoroughbred race horse, Cozmo left World Class gasping for breath after booking an 852-623 rout in the opening game of the 4-game series encounter. In the next game, World Class came back with a much better performance only to lose via a close 799-772 decision. Energized by the two successive victories, the Cozmo Salmiya pin breakers headed by Arnold Mendoza, Bert Pantanilla, Bader Malallah, Dexter Nebres and Cris Batucan rolled past World Class in the remaining two games thus securing a final winning tally of 3292-2879. Bowling for World Class in this match were Glenn Corbit, Bill Stiles, Tes Ashley, Jason Baker,  Gina Ashley, Paul Wilson and Anastasius Menezes.

Rock N Bowl on the other hand barged into the Top 6 after extending their winning streak to three matches after subduing IBL Team 1 via a convincing 3264-2961 tally. Up against the second running IBL Team 1, the Rock N Bowl crew of Liza Catapia, Rod Llait, Norie Sairat, Romy Fermil and Romy Daus dosed  off the heat from the spicy pin busters of IBL Team 1 by taking the first two games via 782-729 and 857-694 scores. Mindful of their position on the leader board, the IBL Team 1 quartet of Uly Menezes, Aji Varghese, Colin Costa and Valentine Gonsalves regrouped in game three and defeated Rock N Bowl 770-733. In the fourth and final game Rock N Bowl made sure that their victories in games one and two will not go to waste by outlasting IBL Team 1 in a high scoring game which ended in an 856-805 success for Rock N Bowl. Meanwhile, the Siete Pares 2 strikers banked on their superb start in nipping the fast closing NLB Corporation at the wire 3202-3155. Bannered by Lito Igot, Mario Santos, Dorcas Sansone, Alex Nodalo, Siddharth Nair and JR Angeles, Siete Pares 2 built a commanding lead as they pounded NLB in the first three games of the match 819-765, 761-714 and 836-760. Just as Siete Pares 2 coasted along in the final game, the NLB Corporation pump masters suddenly caught fire and almost denied their rivals the victory after eking out a tenacious 916-765 win in game four courtesy of Rudy Zablan, Chris Bulacja, Sarel Pascual and Nelson de Leon.

The rest of the completed tenth week matches also saw tournament front runners IBL Team 2 fortifying their stay at the helm of the standings by sweeping aside Dyn Aviation in four straight games en-route to a 3136-2916 total pin falls victory. Leading IBL 2 in its 798-726, 753-724, 795-738 and 767-728 victories were Rani Skeik, Abdullah Ali, Basma Ammar, Nikshita Shetty, Allen Morais and Nadine Dias. Defending champion K2E2 Thunders who need a lot of catching up to do in order to earn a chance for a back to back title also won their scheduled match against Strikers X 3117-3044. The foursome of Jheng Liwayway, Vicky Navarro, John Caldwell and Norman Conde gave Strikers X the lead as they vanquished the Thunders in games one and two 807-756 and 815-739. Refusing to yield even after absorbing two consecutive setbacks, The K2E2 crew of  Butch Alinea, Edwin Latoja, Jess Farne and Lee Mills crawled back into the match with an 819-746 win in game three before successfully overtaking Strikers X with a 778-676 rout in the final game. In the only other match of the week, D’ Islanders headed by Vernie Villaruel, Aga Cuadrazal, Danny Doctor and Marilyne Mariano drubbed the Siete Pares 1 Keglers 3039-2929. DMDA Bowleros who drew the bye slot delivered a total score of 3076 pin falls.
