KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Qatari camels excelled on the third day of the 17th Kuwait Camel Racing Competition currently ongoing on the race tracks of Kuwait Club in Juwaihil area, winning 14 out of 26 rounds.

The competitions of the third day included 6,000-meter races for mid-aged camels which were divided into two different categories.

Emirati camels won eight rounds and Saudi camels won third rounds but Kuwaiti camels won only one round.

Meanwhile, the general board of the Arab Camel Federation unanimously agreed to elect Hussain Mane’e Al-Dawas as the Chairman of the federation for the new term. They also selected Kuwait as the site of the federation.

The board approved to form the executive committee with members such as Sulaiman Al-Zamlout from Egypt, Saeed Al-Ghaferi from Oman, Madhi Al-Sabe’ei from Saudi Arabia and Saad Al-Omda from Sudan. Abdullah Al-Mutairi from Kuwait has been selected as the Secretary and Treasurer.

Al-Zamlout praised the efforts exerted by Al-Dawas to support the “sport of our forefathers”, wishing him further achievements and success.

The executive committee approved to hold the Second Arab Camel Racing Competition in Egypt in October and November 2017.

During the meeting, they also discussed the intended establishment of European Camel Federation including Switzerland, France, Austria and Germany.

In addition, a meeting was held among representatives from the Arab Camel Federation and African Camel Federation along with representatives from European countries to discuss the establishment of an international camel federation.
