Qatar allows malls to operate during the week, Friday & Saturday close

DOHA, June 13: The Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced a decision allowing complexes and commercial centers to operate during the week, with a commitment to close on Friday and Saturday.

In a statement, the ministry said that the decision, which will come into effect from Monday, will allow complexes and commercial centers to operate from 8 am until 8 pm.

The decision comes regarding the first phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions imposed on shopping malls in the context of preventive measures and precautionary measures against the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19).

The games halls, amusement parks, skating halls, prayer rooms and cinemas, as well as preventing the holding of any artistic, cultural or recreational activities within the complexes and commercial centers are still banned in the malls.

The necessity of the commercial complexes and centers adhering to the precautionary measures and preventive measures set by the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, including not allowing shoppers to enter unless after checking the color of the health status referred to in the application (precaution) so that entry is permitted only to the green symbol holders.

The decision prevents people who did not wear medical masks, while obliging them to wear them during their time in the commercial complex, as well as preventing entry to individuals under the age of 12 years or over 60 years.

The decision included checking the temperature of workers and visitors at the entrances and not to allow those whose temperature exceeds 38 degrees to enter the commercial complex.

The importance of providing sterilizers for hands in various facilities, educating visitors to adhere to a safe distance of no less than two meters, and not receiving more than 30 percent of the normal capacity of the mall.

The success of each stage of the comprehensive plan for the gradual lifting of restrictions depends on the extent of everyone’s commitment to implementing the required preventive and precautionary measures. (KUNA)
