Qadsiya blank Yarmouk, top Group 1 of CP Championship – Al-Kuwait beat Al-Nasr to take control of Group 2

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13 (KUNA): The sixth round of groups one and two in the 24th His Highness the Crown Prince Football Championship concluded on Monday, December 12. The seventh and last round will kickoff on Friday, December 15.

In the first match of Group 1, Qadsiya team defeated Yarmouk team with a score of 2-0, thereby increasing their points to 15 to top the group. They are thus guaranteed to qualify for the semi final before the last round. However, Yarmouk team remained the same with ten points.

In the second match of Group 2, Al-Kuwait team defeated Al-Nasr team with a score of 1-0 due to a header by the Ivorian footballer Jumah Said. This has thus increased their number of points to 16 to lead the group.

In the third match of Group 2, Al-Arabi team won against Al-Tadhamon team with a score of 1-0 which increased their points to 15, while Al-Kuwait remained with nine points.

In other matches of Group 1, Al-Jahra team defeated Sulaibikhat team with a score of 4-1, thereby increasing their total number of points to ten. Al-Sahel team defeated Al-Fahaheel team by one goal to none.

In other matches of Group 2, Salmiya team crushed Al-Shabab team by 4 goals to nil, which increased their points to 13. Al-Shabab remained the same with three points. The match between Kazma and Burgan teams ended in a score of 4-2 in favor of Kazma which thereby received a total of ten points.

The current champions Salmiya team and the runners-up Al Kuwait team are expected to qualify for the semi finals which will be held on December 21 followed by the finals on December 26.

The first tournament of His Highness the Crown Prince Football Championship was organized during the 1993-1994 season. Al-Kuwait team was the winner then. With a total of eight wins, Qadsiya team have won the cup more than any other teams.
