Protect public funds – Constitution rules

KUWAIT CITY, March 3, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called on government and Parliament Wednesday to have “constructive cooperation” to address pressing issues and protect public funds and promote rule of law in line with the Constitution. “I call upon the Legislative and Executive Authorities for constructive cooperation, armed by our social fabric and national unity, to achieve national goals, address pressing issues and protect public funds, in line with the constitution, and the decisive and transparent application of law on all,” His Highness the Amir said in a speech after Cabinet members took oath before him.

His Highness the Amir told the new ministers they have “great responsibilities in this important time, and I am confident you are, Allah’s willing, capable of confronting them.” He urged them to work “collectively with the one team spirit to push forward the national action towards reforms and development” in order to achieve aspirations of the Kuwaiti people at all levels.

His Highness the Amir thanked His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for his “great efforts” and urged the ministers to “double efforts” and show dedication in their national duties in order to create opportunities and alleviate burden of citizens. His Highness the Amir also thanked the former ministers for their services.

His Highness the Prime Minister said the Constitution and law would be the foundation of cooperation with the Parliament with the objective reaching common goals between the two authorities. His Highness the Prime Minister, addressing His Highness the Amir after taking constitutional oath, said the speech of His Highness the Amir would “be our roadmap to work as one team serving Kuwait, interests of Kuwait and its citizens.”

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended the oath-taking ceremony. His Highness the Prime Minister thanked His Highness the Amir for approving the Cabinet line-up and prayed to Allah the Almighty’s help to conduct this mandate. “We pledge before Your Highness to work as one team and to exert every effort to achieve progress, advancement and prosperity of our nation under Your Highness and His Highness the Crown Prince’s leadership,” he said.

Earlier, His Highness the Amir received at Bayan Palace His Highness the Prime Minister on the occasion of his swear-in as head of the Cabinet. The members of the new Cabinet, accompanying His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, were also sworn-in.

The new Cabinet included: ■ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah. ■ Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Nazaha Enhancement, Abdullah Youssef Al- Roumi. ■ Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Issa Ahmad Mohammad Al- Kanderi. ■ Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Mohammad Abdullatif Al-Fares. ■ Minister of Health, Dr. Bassel Humoud Al-Sabah. ■ Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah. ■ Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Affairs, Dr. Rana Abdullah Al-Fares. ■ Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Mubarak Salem Al- Harees. ■ Minister of Interior, Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Salem Al-Saba. ■ Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs, Khalifa Musaed Hamada. ■ Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Baddah Al-Mutairi.
