Probe to reveal motives for killing woman: victim’s brother – ‘Suspect had dispute with victim’s daughter’

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: Saeed Al-Ajmi, the brother of the victim who was allegedly murdered in a suburb of Sabah Al-Salem by a female compatriot over a dispute with the victim’s daughter, said the suspect is in police custody, reports Al-Rai daily.

The brother disclosed the suspect had a dispute with the victim’s daughter and went looking for her. She first went to the house of the victim in Mahboula, but no one opened the door to her; she then proceeded to the house of another sister of the victim in Ogaila, and there too no one opened the door for her. She then came to Sabah Al-Salem and the victim’s youngest daughter (13 years old) opened the door for her. When she asked the victim about her other daughter, she was told that she was in school.

The victim then turned her back and the suspect stabbed her in the back and chest several times following which the Filipino maid and the younger daughter shouted for help. A neighbor who heard the distress call caught the suspect and called police. When police arrived, they found with the suspect three knives. The victim’s brother added, the suspect had problems with the victim’s daughter who was in school.

The victim has six children and the suspect was a family friend and the victim was even helping her sometimes. He went on to say, investigations will reveal the motives for the crime. Earlier it was reported, a 35-yearold Kuwaiti woman was stabbed to death by a 43-year-old female compatriot in Sabah Al-Salem.

In a press statement, the Public Relations and Security Media Department at the Ministry of Interior said the suspect bought a knife at a supermarket in Sabah Al-Salem before heading towards the victim’s house. Initial investigations revealed the two women were talking in front of the victim’s house when the accused took the knife and stabbed the victim several times in her chest. The suspect fled from the scene after the stabbing incident but she later turned herself over to police along with the murder weapon.
