KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: The Rehabilitation and Evaluation Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Awqaf, culminated in its efforts by training inmates of the correctional institutions (men/ women), Kuwait Addiction Treatment Center, and Kuwait Halfway Houses Organization to obtain accredited certificates in the field of computer science.

The training lasted from the last quarter of the year 2019 until the coronavirus crisis, reports Al-Rai daily. About 150 male and female trainees participated in the program to obtain an accredited certificate in computer science, including operating systems, the internet, word processing programs, spreadsheets, excel, and powerpoint presentation program.

The administration aims to provide the opportunity for the male and female inmates to develop their capabilities and learn new skills that give them the opportunity to obtain jobs after serving their term behind bars. It is worthy of note the Rehabilitation and Correction Department is within its competencies to train and rehabilitate inmates of the correctional institutions from both sexes, partnering with the Addiction Treatment Center and Halfway Houses.
