KUWAIT CITY, April 11: The Ministry of Interior will publish the decree on the 2022 Municipal Council elections in the Official Gazette on Wednesday while the registration of candidates will last for 10 days starting from April 14 and the elections will be held on May 21, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source.

The source told the daily that the number of eligible voters for the upcoming election is 602,156 in 10 districts; indicating 290,239 of these voters are males and 31,917 are females. The source pointed out the Election Law stipulate that a candidate must be an eligible voter and no one is allowed to file his candidacy in more than one district.

In case of filing the candidacy in more than one district, the candidate must cancel his registration in other districts and ensure he is registered only in one district before the end of the period specified for the registration of candidates; otherwise, his candidacy in all districts shall be considered void, the source explained, adding that the number of polling stations is expected to reach 660.
