Police hunt for bank account hacker

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Police are looking for an unidentified hacker for stealing the money of a woman from her bank account, reports Al- Rai daily.

According to the complaint filed by the victim with the police station in Ahmadi, an unidentified person claiming to be a bank employee called the victim and told her that her ATM card had been blocked because she has not updated her data.

The woman fell for the trap and gave the suspect all details of her ATM card. After a few minutes she received a message on her phone that money had been withdrawn from her bank account.

In total disbelief she contacted the bank and was told that the money from her account had been transferred to another account via the Internet.

The case has been handed over to the Cybercrimes Department of the Criminal Investigations Department. It should be noted that the Cybercrimes Department has time and again warned people not to disclose such details to anyone even bank officials over the phone.
