Plan to allow purchase of extra construction proportion

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 6: Director General of Kuwait Municipality Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi has unveiled the plan to allow once again the purchase of extra construction proportion in Kuwait City as it was done in the past, reports Al- Rai daily.

In his statement to the daily, Al- Manfouhi affirmed that an agreement was reached during the Municipality’s Coordination Higher Committee meeting on determining the construction proportion, provided it does not exceed 400 percent.

He explained this move is aimed at ensuring equality between plots taking into consideration two issues – dispute over construction proportions between two plots and some plots having extra space as the 400 percent proportion was allowed in the past. In addition, these issues led to disputes over heights or construction ratio between those plots.

To ensure fairness, a list will be referred to the Municipal Council to determine the commercial value of all plots and then allow the purchase of extra proportions, Al-Manfouhi added. He pointed out, “there will be new conditions for the 400 percent proportion which will be reflected in the money that will be collected and will go into the fund for infrastructure in the city like parking areas, road network and other facilities.” He said the charges will be discussed and determined with the structural plan consultant later.
