KUWAIT CITY, July 16, (Agencies): The Directorate- General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has completed a plan to prepare for the resumption of commercial flights in August, which includes several measures deemed necessary and are being viewed by Minister of Communications and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Mubarak Al-Haris, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The daily quoting sources said these include the application of health procedures and requirements that must be followed in implementation of the Cabinet’s decision in this regard, and also includes procedures for technical and professional preparations for workers at the airport.

The plan developed by the administration includes providing the necessary services to travelers at all passenger halls, as well as ensuring the safety of operation in an efficient and disciplined manner in all operating sectors according to health standards.

The sources pointed out that the plan takes into account the importance of adhering to the preventive and precautionary measures issued by the health authorities at this stage to protect travelers and workers from infection.

Meanwhile, Director of Operations Department at the DGCA Mansour Al- Hashemi said 29 scheduled flights carrying 5,229 passengers left the Kuwait International Airport, Wednesday, reports Al-Seyassah daily. He explained 10,067 passengers have left the country since mid-March to 29 destinations including New York, Dubai, Pakistan, Cairo and India aboard many domestic and foreign airlines, including Al- Jazeera and Kuwait Airways, EgyptAir, Air Cairo and other airline companies.

Al-Hashemi pointed out the DGCA is keen to ensure all passengers adhere to all health requirements such as social distancing and wearing gloves and masks and the same goes for flight operators and crew who must abide by all requirements while leaving the Kuwait International Airport.

Doctors return
The first batch of expatriate doctors working in public health facilities, who were stranded abroad due to the conronavirus pandemic, returned to the country recently, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed that the Ministry of Health completed all the necessary procedures for the return of expatriate doctors assigned in public hospitals, specialized hospitals and health centers. Sources said many of these doctors traveled in mid- February and were stuck abroad for more than five months.

Sources expect the return of hundreds of expatriate doctors from different countries such as Egypt, India, Pakistan and Europe in the coming days. Sources added the preventive health teams have been tasked to examine these doctors upon their arrival, indicating these teams will take nasal and pharyngeal swabs to ensure the arriving doctors are free from COVID-19.
