Patrol officers not allowed to issue citations – Traffic citations books to be withdrawn

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior has issued a circular to the Public Security Sector to declare that traffic citations books will be withdrawn from the patrol officers affiliated to the Public Security Sector, but not from higher-ranked officers of the sector.

According to security sources, the work of patrol officers affiliated to Public Security Sector is to monitor public security and curb crimes. The task of issuing traffic citations will be assigned to officers affiliated to the General Traffic Department as their work is apply the traffic laws and handle traffic-related violations.

The traffic citation books will be used by higherranked officers of Public Security Sectors for issuing citations against serious traffic violations such as reckless driving, crossing the red signal and speeding.
