KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Chairman of the parliamentary Financial Affairs Committee MP Faisal Al- Shaye said the four-member panel on Sunday will look into the government’s request to withdraw money from the public reserve to meet the requirements of the Defense Ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.

Indicating Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah will attend the meeting, Al-Shaye disclosed the panel is composed of representatives from the Finance, Foreign Affairs, General Budgets, Interior and Defense committees under the leadership of MP Adnan Abdulsamad who currently serves as chairman of the Budgets Committee; whereas the rapporteur of the committee will be MP Kamel Al-Awadhi who is the current chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He said the government referred to the Parliament, particularly the Finance Committee, a proposal to withdraw KD 6.2 billion from the public reserve to be allotted as exceptional budget for 10 years starting from fiscal 2015/2016 to cover the needs of the Defense Ministry such as weapons and advanced military equipment for the Armed Forces to be ready in view of the current regional security position. He disclosed the committee will ask the minister to clarify the circumstances and reasons behind the request for such a budget.

On the other hand, he revealed the committee will also discuss the proposed modifications to the Economic and Social Development Draft Law in the presence of Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Development and Planning Affairs Hind Al-Subaih.
