‘Punitive action against erring owners’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Kuwait Municipality has revealed that the committee charged with setting up a working mechanism to address the phenomenon of housing ‘bachelors’ in the private and model housing areas will make a recommendation to senior management to include the rotation of some building inspectors, reports Al-Rai daily quoting reliable sources.

The source told the daily, “The committee has started monitoring the building violations that are clearly visible, proving its condition with the records, adding the properties that were transferred to apartments in violation of the building law, and renting them to the bachelors.”

The sources confirmed that the committee, upon instructions from the Minister of Municipality Fahd Al-Shoula pointed out “punitive measures will be taken against the erring inspectors and the owner of the property if it is proven the law has been violated.”

On the other hand, the source pointed out that “the transfer of directors and heads of departments in various sectors and branches of the municipality is under study especially that the minister has asked to provide him a list of achievements of each sector and a branch to see the performance of each of them.”
