KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24, (Agencies): The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is expected to meet on Wednesday to officially cancel the earlier decision not to renew the work permits of non-graduate expatriates who are 60 years and above, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting reliable sources said the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al- Salman, who is also PAM chairman, will chair the meeting to resolve the issue. The Board of Directors is said to have approved to cancel the earlier decision which the Fatwa and Legislation Department of the Council of Ministers had ruled out ‘null and void’.

The sources indicated there is a kind of understanding between the PAM board members to cancel the 60s decision in the upcoming meeting, and direct the concerned authorities to re-issue work permits for this segment again, according to what was in place before the issuance of this decision. However, some sources said, among the new proposals on the table is to impose 250 dinars as renewal fee in addition to the health insurance.
