KUWAIT CITY, Aug 2: Customs officers at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Airport thwarted the attempt of a Pakistani to smuggle jewelry and diamonds by hiding them in secret parts of his luggage without declaring the items to customs officials, reports Al- Rai daily. According to a customs source, the Pakistani arrived at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Airport from Dubai. The customs inspector asked him if he carried items which must be declared and he said none. However, the inspector found gold bracelets and rings with diamonds hidden in his luggage. The source explained the reason behind the concealment of jewelry is that the Pakistani wanted to evade customs tax and fees specified by the Ministry of Commerce. A case was registered and the Pakistani was referred to the concerned security department along with the confiscated items.
