Authority continues to receive transactions

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) has increased the number of civil ID storage devices in the visitors’ reception halls at its headquarters in Mishref, reports Al-Qabas daily. The authority has developed smart devices characterized by the ability to read automatic barcodes through the users’ phones, which they obtain electronically upon applying for a civil ID replacement in case of loss or those applying for ID for the first time without the need to visit the employee at the PACI. The Al-Qabas daily during a tour of the PACI headquarters in South Surrah discovered the authority has installed about 10 devices operating on the new system in the reception areas bringing the total number of devices in the PACI buildings spread across the governorates to 80.

During the tour the daily witnessed Cards Distribution and Issuance Department continuing to receive the transactions of citizens and residents who wish to expedite the issuance of IDs in light of the crisis caused by the accumulation of IDs of residents stranded abroad, which takes up space in the devices and does not allow for an increase in storage system, as the capacity of one device is 5,000 cards. The operation of the new devices in the authority contributed to an increase in the storage capacity of civil ID cards, while informed sources revealed an increase in the frequency of delivery of ready IDs through the service provided hired by the authority. Al-Qabas learned that the Audit Bureau has approved, in a letter issued on July 28, the renewal of license No. 1442 for the civil ID home delivery service. The bureau did not object to renewing the contract since PACI will make 650 fils for each successful delivery of the civil ID.
