KUWAIT, March 30 (KUNA) -- Over 179,000 people have lost their jobs in Austria in the past two weeks due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation on Monday quoted the Austrian Labor Inspectorate as saying that the restrictions and preventive measures taken by the government to contain coronavirus have increased the unemployment rate drastically.

Many companies and businesses closed their doors after the enforcement of the restrictions on 16 March.
At least 58,000 workers in the hotel and restaurant sectors lost, 22,000 workers in the building industry and 1,000 workers in services sector lost their jobs, it indicated.
Earlier, the Health Ministry confirmed 564 new infections and 22 deaths related to the coronavirus.
