‘Oil Ministry 1st to implement e-face print system to record attendance’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Sheikh Dr Nimer Al-Sabah, said the Ministry of Oil is the first ministry in Kuwait to implement an electronic face print system to record the daily attendance and departure of employees, as part of the ministry’s efforts in the complete digital transformation that was launched in February 2020, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Oil, Dr Al-Sabah stated that the ministry was the first to implement the electronic face print system through mobile phones locally, and the ministry has relied on it since the spread of the corona pandemic in the country after putting an end to the fingerprint system as part of the precautionary measures the ministry has taken to maintain occupational health and safety for employees.

He explained the Ministry of Oil has worked during the last period on a comprehensive development of its internal digital services in order to facilitate and accelerate the services provided in the ministry, raise its efficiency and reduce human factor in transactions, indicating that the electronic facial fingerprint is stored within the databases to identify employees and is linked to the human resources system, which contributes in the ease of storing and displaying attendance and departure data, and extracts daily reports through the human resources system, which monitors the extent to which employees adhere to in working hours and is easily audited.

Dr Al-Sabah emphasized that the electronic face print system is highly effective in recording the daily attendance and departure of the employees and is done in no more than two seconds, in addition to that it is efficient and effective to prevent the spread of the coronavirus or any other diseases as it does not require continuous touching and sterilization after use as it is the case in the fingerprint device.

He pointed out the Ministry of Oil always seeks to make the work environment healthy and safe for employees in the best possible way by finding successful solutions to any challenges, by promoting innovation and technological and technical development, and upgrading electronic systems by applying the best modern and advanced technical means.
