Number of divorce cases in Kuwait reaches 946 in Jan & Feb

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Legal Authentication Department in the Ministry of Justice recently released statistics on divorce; showing that the number of divorce cases in January and February reached 946, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily obtained a copy of the statistics, indicating that the number of divorce cases among Kuwaiti couples totaled four in January and two in February. The number of Khula’a divorce cases (ransom divorce without getting any rights ) reached 61 – 28 in January and 33 in February, while divorce based on a court ruling reached 152 – 89 in January and 63 in February.

Also, 131 of the divorce cases were filed by men with one or more wives – 67 in January and 64 in February; while the cases filed by women before the consummation of marriage reached 61 – 35 in January and 26 in February. The number of documented divorce cases reached 946 among couples who got married in different years – 494 in January and 452 in February.

The number of revocable divorce cases filed for the first time reached 292 in January and 262 in February, while those filed for the second time totaled 43 in January and 49 in February. The number of irrevocable divorce cases filed for the first time totaled 123 in January and 119 in February, while those filed for the second time totaled 19 in January and nine in February. The number of divorce cases due to infertility totaled 17 in January and 13 in February.
