‘No unilateral hike in cigarettes rates’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry Dr Khalid Al-Roudhan affirmed that the ministry will take relevant actions for preventing any increase in the prices of cigarettes, reports Al-Rai daily. He said this in response to a circular sent by the agent of a branded cigarette company which declared its intention to increase the prices of its cigarettes from Sunday, Feb 11. Dr Al-Roudhan stressed the keenness of the ministry to monitor the prices of commodities irrespective of whether they are basic commodities or not and whether they are subsidized or not.
