New warnings on price hikes

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1, (KUNA): Ministry of Commerce and Industry stressed Thursday the importance to maintain the prices on food commodities and end any unnecessary price hike after the increase of fuel prices.

The ministry said in a press release, after its officials held a meeting with the Union of Cooperative Societies, discussing ways to intensify monitoring the market and enforcing the law to stop any kind of commercial fraud which will affect consumers.

The ministry affirmed the importance of working together with the union to protect the consumers from any kind of manipulation with prices and merchandise quality in the market.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial Supervision and consumer protection department Eid Al-Rashidi, head of the Union of Cooperative Societies Dr Saad Al-Shabo and a number of officials.
