Reforms vital for smooth rule

KUWAIT CITY, July 20: MP Fayez Al- Jomhour criticized the decision of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to stop the issuance of permits for Kuwaiti public sector employees who want to complete their studies in the country. Al-Jomhour asserted the decision is unjust, calling on CSC Chairperson Mariam Al-Aqeel to cancel the decision to ensure a bright future for the above-mentioned citizens.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the parliamentary Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee MP Hamad Al-Matar disclosed that the committee will meet with representatives of the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs and senior officials at the Ministry of Social Affairs next Wednesday. He said they will discuss the reasons behind the delayed disbursement of financial support for nurseries for the disabled. He added the delay exacerbated the suffering of the guardians of the disabled, while some of the nurseries were left with no option but to shut down.

In another development, MP Khalid Al-Otaibi said the new prime minister has a lot of work to do; especially rectifying the mistakes of previous governments. He stressed the need to change the path, rather than changing the names in order to ensure the implementation of reforms. In addition, Deputy National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Shuhoumi received Science researcher Dr Nasser Al-Sayegh who obtained a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the US Department of Commerce. He pointed out this means that Kuwait has a large number of capable researchers who contribute to scientific development.

Al-Sayegh was granted the patent for inventing a machine to diagnose the condition of Nanoplanktons in nanofluids, along with Mechanical Engineering Professor at Kuwait University Ammar Bahman. The invention will contribute to the development of methods for producing energy and desalination plants by switching to the use of advanced thermal fluids.

Furthermore, Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim sent cables to President of the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia Jennifer Arias and Senate President Juan Diego Gomez to greet them on the National Day of their country. By Saeed Mahmoud Saleh Arab Times Staff
