MoE keen to finalize procedures for teachers appointment

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: The Ministry of Education is keen on finalizing procedures for the appointment of 108 Palestinian teachers who were hired at the beginning of the current academic year, but the new integrated system refuses to pay the salaries of these teachers unless the codes of their certificates accredited by the universities where they studied are entered into the system, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed correspondences between the ministry and its higher education counterpart showed that the latter did not issue accreditation codes to Palestinian universities.

Sources added such procedures take months to complete, and that the salaries will not be paid until then. Sources said 156 other Palestinian teachers, who will arrive in the country in batches, are likely to face the same circumstances unless the problem is solved.

Sources explained the Ministry of Education resorted to a temporary solution by paying the teachers in advance and the amount will be deducted from their salaries once the issue is settled.

Sources added the ministry hired Palestinian teachers in the past without encountering this problem, attributing the current problem to the upgrading of the integrated system which includes a condition on the accreditation of certificates
