New board of directors of Kuwait Airways formed

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: Minister of Finance Barak Al-Sheitan has issued a decision to re-form the board of directors of the Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) for a period of three years. It will be headed by Captain Ali Al-Dukhan, and will have advisors Faisal Al-Gharib and Dr. Adel Al-Yousifi as members along with Ahmed Al-Ibrahim, Khaled Al-Swaifan, Khaled Al-Mutairi and Adel Al-Sanea, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

They described the board formation as a “technical board” with about four members from various departments and sectors of  KAC.

Capt. Al-Dukhan held the position of Deputy Director General for Operations Affairs until his retirement in 2016 when the board was headed by Rasha Al-Roumi. Other members include Engineer Ahmed Al-Ibrahim who held the position of Head of the Aircraft Maintenance Department for Electricity, Navigation Systems and Communications in the company’s Engineering Department, Adel Al-Sanea who held the position of Assistant Director of Finance Department, and Khaled Al-Mutairi who served as the Deputy Director of the Equipment and Housing Department.

As for Faisal Al-Ghareeb, he is considered as one of the veteran national leaders in the country, after serving for more than 30 years in state institutions during which he moved from the Fatwa and Legislation Department to the Civil Service Commission, then to the Central Agency for Public Tenders, and finally was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Credit and Savings Bank for eight years, which is two consecutive terms that ended in 2016.

In the first statement he issued after his appointment, Capt. Al-Dukhan told the daily he is looking forward to a brighter phase in the coming period for the national carrier.

Capt. Al-Dukhan spent more than 45 years of service for the “Blue Bird” and gradually rose through ranks in his technical and administrative positions after joining the company on March 14, 1971 as an assistant pilot following the completion of his studies for a year and a half in England.

In 1978, he was promoted to the rank of Captain specializing in commanding a Boeing 707. In 1980, he was appointed as chief pilot of Boeing 707 and he served in that position until he resigned in 1982. He then held the position of Deputy General Director for Operations from 1988 until this position was removed from the company in 2000. Subsequently, he was appointed as a technical advisor to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, at the rank of Deputy Director General, until his retirement in 2016.
