Never give ATM secret ‘number’ – Scammers sending SMS “Bank Account Has Been Blocked”

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: At no time an official in the bank has the authority to ask for anyone’s ATM secret code, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a senior banking official.

He said this to warn bank clients against gangs which in the name of the bank may ask for secret code number and the victims may end up losing a lot of money.

The source also warned against responding to queries of fraudster saying most local banks send messages to their customers, warning them of such operations.

The source confirmed that citizens and residents have been receiving messages during the past few days that their bank accounts have been blocked and required them to update the data from a local phone number belonging to a telecommunications company. The telephone number has been sent to the e-crimes department for necessary action.
