‘Need to cut prices of fruits & veggies from Syria, Lebanon’

Transportation costs down

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Chairperson of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Khalid Al-Hudaiban stressed the need to reduce prices of fruits and vegetables from Syria and Lebanon by 25 percent after opening the Jaber-Naseeb passageway between Syria and Jordan, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Hudaiban told the daily that prices should decrease considering the difference in the cost of land and air transportation.

On the other hand, Head of the Farmers Group in Lebanon Ibrahim Al-Tarshish sent a message to Kuwaitis on the availability of high quality agricultural products in Kuwaiti markets within five days at low prices.

Speaking to the daily, Al-Tarshish affirmed the resumption of shipments which were suspended for about three years, as well as the assurance of drivers to recommence exportation activities along Naseeb passageway.
