KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Kuwait Municipality Saturday announced the signing of new cleaning contracts worth KD 124 million, and the estimated saving is said to be more than KD 160 million over previous cleaning contracts, reports Al- Rai daily.

In a press statement, the municipality stressed its keenness to protect public money by reducing the cost of new contracts, and praised the efforts exerted by hygiene teams in various governorates which continue day and night to follow up the work of cleaning companies and ensures that the work is carried out as per the provisions of the agreements in the contract.

The daily added, the Municipality does not hesitate to punish the contractors by imposing fines on in the event of failure to perform the tasks as agreed upon especially where the hygiene regulations are concerned. The sources pointed to the direct supervision of the cleaning contracts that have been concluded and said no defaults will be tolerated in the cleanliness of commercial and industrial areas.

The sources explained these areas – commercial complexes, companies and private institutions – have special cleaning contracts and the Municipality inspectors play an important role in ensuring the level of hygiene. The sources stressed the importance of concerted efforts and the cooperation of commercial and industrial real estate owners and shop owners with the field inspectors to carry out their work and raise the level of cleanliness sought by everyone.

Meanwhile, the Al-Anba daily quoting the Public Relations Department of the Municipality announced in the framework of the campaign ‘Keep it Clean’ the Public Cleaning and Road Works Department of Jahra Municipality follows up the distribution of 7,400 containers of different sizes to different areas of the Governorate. In case of any complaint related to the Municipality, the department has called citizens to call the hotline 139, which operates around the clock or through social networking sites of Kuwait Municipality @kuwmun.
