Municipality IDs 5 sites for trucks parking

‘No new decisions required’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: An informed source in the Municipality confirmed 5 sites have been identified for heavy duty trucks where they can park, reports Al-Qabas daily. The source said that several decisions were issued by the Municipal Council regarding the allocation of sites for truck parking, and those designated sites have been handed over to the Ministry of Public Works.

The five sites include, a site in the Jahra Governorate (east of Abdali Road) on an area of 500,000 square meters; truck assembly site in Ahmadi Governorate (east of Sulaibiya Road) on an area of 500,000 square meters; a site in Ahmadi Governorate (Mina Abdullah) on Wafra Road, 500,000 square meters; a site in Jahra Governorate (west of Abdali Road), Al-Liah, on an area of 500,000 square meters and finally a site in the Jahra Governorate (Salmi Road), west of poultry farms, on an area of 500,000 square meters.

The source indicated that a Cabinet decision was issued, at its meeting held on May 4, 2009, to assign the Ministry of Public Works to implement the infrastructure for truck parking in the governorates, in coordination with the ministries of Finance and Interior. The source confirmed that these sites were handed over to the Ministry of Public Works on October 18, 2009 according to the records, and that these five sites meet all the requirements and the matter does not require the issuance of new decisions.
