KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The recent grilling submitted by MP Mohammad Tana against Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al- Sabeeh, which resulted in massive expression of confidence in favor of the minister, has not discouraged the lawmakers from issuing a spate of grilling requests because of their determination to use the most effective tool for questioning.

MP Dr Abdulrahman Al-Jeeran affirmed that his grilling request against Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa will depend on the outcome of a meeting he will hold with the minister on Thursday afternoon, indicating that the discussions during the meeting will be about several observations and aspects related to the sector.

He declared that fixing the time for the interpellation will depend on the responsiveness of the minister about the education-related issues as well as the observations of the State Audit Bureau regarding the tenders in the ministry, administrative issues and violations committed in Kuwait University and Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.

Meanwhile, MP Abdullah Al-Mayouf declared that he was not convinced by the overwhelming support in favor of Minister of Social Affairs and Labor following the grilling against her by MP Tana.

However, he denied any intention to submit another grilling against the minister. Regarding the purported plan of Equate Petrochemical Company to take over the M. E. Global Company, MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji said he wonders if this information is true. He urged government to not stay idle about this deal because “it is unreasonable to take control of a company that the Dow Chemical Company is trying to get rid of”. Al-Turaiji reminded the government that the effects of breaching the K-Dow contract continue to represent a heavy burden for the State of Kuwait.

In addition, it has been reported that MP Hamdan Al-Azmi is planning to grill Minister of Health Dr Ali Al- Obeidi Thursday or Sunday regarding medical errors and associated deaths.
