MP urges action on Green Belt

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: MP Faisal Al-Kandari has asked the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) to implement the Environmental Green Belt Project in Sabah Al-Ahmad City in order to avoid environmental damages caused by dust storms and unstable weather conditions during summer.

In a press statement, Al-Kandari explained the idea of implementing the project on the perimeter of the city by putting three fences near each other, indicating this will limit sand movement towards homes or highways. He pointed out the Kuwait Municipality will save money once this proposal is implemented, citing reduced expenditures for cleaning the streets clean and removal of sand that accumulated on the roads. He added the green belt will improve the soil and the environment.

Meanwhile, MP Khalil Abdullah has presented questions to Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh on the work procedures in the Public Institution for Social Security.

He asked for a copy of the institutions’ organizational structure, company that worked on this structure, job descriptions of employees, annual bonus and special benefits granted to some employees.

He requested a list of the special training courses conducted by the institution, cost of each course, name of the center or training institute which signed contracts with the institution to conduct the courses, and objectives of each course in the last five years. He also inquired about the activities organized by the institution in other countries for its employees, venues, participants and their specializations in the last fi ve years.
