MP raises queries on 5G network in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: Continuing his initiative to address controversies surrounding the implementation of 5G network in the country, MP Riyad Al- Adsani forwarded questions to Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh on the reasons behind approving the 5G network even though the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that there is no conclusive study guaranteeing absolute safety of using the network.

He clarified that he is not against technological advancement, but it must always be in line with the country’s legal, health and environmental regulations.

Therefore, he requested for copies of all dialogues, recommendations, approvals and other documents concerning the implementation of 5G network from the following bodies: International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Ministry of Health, Environment Public Authority (EPA), Ministry of Communications and other concerned international organizations in the public and private sectors.

In another development, several MPs including Osama Al-Shaheen, Mohammed Hayed, Mohammed Al-Mutair, Thamer Al-Suwait, Adel Al-Damkhi have submitted a proposal to amend Law No. 24/1996 on regulating higher education, applied training and education in the private sector, such that the segregation policy is ratified.

The proposal states that in a bid to implement an ideal educational policy; the government is obligated to improve facilities in private and public universities, as well as the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET), and ensure segregation by establishing separate lecture halls, libraries, laboratories and any other facilities for male and female students. Additionally, private and public universities and PAAET must revise and develop their policies to ensure Islamic virtues and principles are upheld in student attire and conduct.
