Mosque demolition shocks Awqaf minister

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the State Minister for Municipality Mohammad Al-Jabri finds himself at the crossroads following a mosque demolished in Sulaibiya area by officials of Jahra Municipality Thursday.

A source from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, said the minister is in shock just as the residents of the area and worshipers who observed their daily prayers inside the mosque. He said a senior official from the sector had given directives to his staff to pull down the mosque authorized as a temporary place of worship. He wondered why the official did not consider sanctity of the mosque as a holy place.
