Ministry mulls electronic booking of wedding halls

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor represented by the Legal Affairs Department has forwarded Decree No. 24/1979 amended by Law No. 118/2013 concerning cooperative societies to the Fatwa and Legislation Department for review before its referral to the Parliament, and it’s expected to be completed in the current parliamentary term, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The daily quoting sources said the amendment include intensifying pre-monitoring procedures on the activities of cooperative societies and extending the powers of the board of directors to put things in order to avoid repetition of errors that led to the dissolution of successive boards.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh issued ministerial Decision No. 27/2017 to empower employees at the cooperation department to curb violations, as stated in Law No. 118/2013.

The decision includes Abdullah Al-Saeedi, Ahmed Al-Mutairi, Wa’el Al-Shukri, Muhammad Al-Ajmi, Basel Al-Azmi, Abdulwahab Rashed, Dari Saleh and Abdulrazaq Ghazi. Sources said the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor represented by Society Development Department is putting the final touches on the new electronic system to make it possible for citizens to book wedding halls via smart phones. They added the system is easy to use, as it displays the photos of different halls. However, the halls will not be rented for religious or political purposes, they said.
