KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: The decision to deport a number of expatriate preachers of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for security reasons was based on a response from Ministry of Interior, which included non-renewal of residence permits, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting parliamentary sources.

They revealed that Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs had earlier sent the names of 10-12 preachers and imams in mosques to inquire about them. Meanwhile, MP Dr Abdullah Al- Turaiji revealed that one of the preachers has been placed in the deportation center in preparation for the completion of necessary procedures even though there were no charges against him. He insisted that such measures are unacceptable and that there must be a court ruling against him to be followed by the decision of deportation if convicted. Al-Turaiji said such practices are offensive to Kuwait, a country where rights are safeguarded, calling for giving rights to these preachers to defend themselves based on the law.

Meanwhile, Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) is planning to install 25 fingerprint devices in Shuwaikh Port, reports Al-Anba daily quoting an official source. He said these devices will be installed and launched by January 2016 in all land ports and airports to manage the attendance of the employees in the land, air and sea ports. General Department for Criminal Evidences intends to reorganize and archive all data, documents and fingerprints available with them, reports Al- Shahed daily quoting security sources.

They affirmed that the department is planning to archive transactions electronically and dispense with the traditional system, which will enable it to obtain immediate results for all transactions. The sources explained that the process of archiving information electronically began some time ago. The administration has succeeded in achieving a significant proportion in this aspect and the whole process is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
