MoH’s move aims to cut number of non-Kuwaitis in govt sector

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: The Ministry of Health is currently coordinating with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to apply decision number 11/2017 regarding the rules and procedures for Kuwaitization of government sector jobs, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources

Sources said this move aims to reduce the number of non- Kuwaitis employed in the government sector every year in order to reach the specified percentage of Kuwaiti manpower. Sources added the two sides will meet soon to determine the functional groups covered by the Kuwaitization policy.

In another development, the head of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Ali Al-Kandari has called for the establishment of an independent body to take control of the activities of the societies instead of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, reports Al- Shahed daily.

Al-Kandari explained this proposal was presented to the National Assembly and had the blessing of the Legislative Committee, but unfortunately it was swept under the carpet without disclosing the real reasons. Al-Kandari added the strategic food stock of basic commodities in the warehouses of cooperative societies can feed the citizens for 4 months in the event of any emergency. He stressed, periodic meetings are being held in this regard with the competent authorities.
