KUWAIT CITY, Dec 13: In a move towards putting an end to the squandering of public funds, Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi has issued a decision to end a contract with the American company ETANA which runs the Kuwait Health Office in Washington, reports Al-Shahed daily.According to sources, Dr Al-Harbi asked for quarterly reports with details such as number of patients, names of hospitals and elaboration of the expenses since the signing of the contract. It is worth mentioning that this company receives 27.5 percent commission from Ministry of Health for each patient referred to the USA for medical treatment.Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health as of Dec 11 stopped handing out all stocks from public warehouses to pave way for the annual inventory. The transfer of materials will not take place unless in emergency situation with approval of the committee for stocktaking until the end of the process starting Dec 25, reports Al Anba daily.The ministry will also stop handing out stocks from branch level warehouses on Dec 18 until the end of stocktaking. The decision has been issued by the ministry and circulated to administrations, health centers and hospitals to submit enough requirements to cover the period of stocktaking.
