KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The value of the accumulated arrears that Ministry of Health has to pay the company that implemented “Afia” is said to be nearly KD 57 million. This threatens the future of this vital service if the company stopped the payment of the dues to the hospitals contracted with it, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

They affirmed that the Gulf Insurance Company, which is implementing the project, still abides by the payment of the dues to the hospitals, despite the delay in the payment of dues to the company by the ministry. The sources indicated that the company, with the increase in the number of retirees, the size of the instalments, and the ministry’s delay in making the payments, may reach a point where it will not be able to continue paying the hospitals.
