MoH denies reports about storing medical waste in unsafe manner

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: The Ministry of Health has denied reports about the existence of medical waste being stored and destroyed in an unsafe manner at the Amiri Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.

A statement issued by the ministry said what was photographed and shown as medical waste is in fact waste from office, such as plastics, and not containers contaminated with the blood of the patients or polluted liquids (blue bags) which are always placed in special containers near the outer wall of the hospital to be transported daily according to instructions given by the Ministry of Health and the Environment Public Authority.

The ministry insists the publication of accurate news about the health of visitors and staff at the hospital. This is in addition to obtaining information from reliable sources at the Ministry of Health to avoid causing concern and spreading rumors. The ministry has asserted that it has the right to take legal actions against anyone who harms the health institution or its employees.
