KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Ministry of Health has called on cafes to prevent the circulation of hookah (shisha) at present until the health situation in the country is assessed due to the coronavirus outbreak. In a statement, the ministry stressed that workers in salons, clubs and cafes need to provide a healthy environment through the use of gloves, disinfectants and sterilizers.

On the other hand, several cafe owners affirmed that they had not received any communication so far to stop serving shisha to customers, but they will abide by any decision to maintain public health.

In an investigative interview, they said the cafes are going through a recession at the moment due to emergence of cases of coronavirus infection, stressing the prevention of hookah will lead to greater losses since the majority of customers go to cafes for “shisha”.
