KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education will not tolerate illegal acts related to employment and fake academic certificates, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa.
Stressing the ministry is keen on working with the Parliament in addressing a number of issues, Al-Essa asserted the common aim of both institutions is to apply the law on everyone regardless of their status or position. He said an official proven to have violated the law will be subjected to investigation and punished accordingly.
Al-Essa affirmed the draft law on accredited universities has been tabled for discussion in the parliamentary Educational Affairs Committee and the legislature itself during the next legislative round. He explained that once talks on the draft law starts, the ministry will present a bill on transferring supervision of Al-Shadadiya University project from Kuwait University to the Ministry of Public Works considering the abilities and vast experience of the latter.
He cited obstacles to the implementation of Al-Shadadiya University projects, such as the lack of abilities on the part of Kuwait University compared to that of the Public Works Ministry. He added the proposal to give the private sector right to operate some public schools is now in the hands of the Central Tenders Committee, confirming that the project will be tested in one school in each governorate once the committee finalizes its work in order to evaluate the project according to the results. He clarified this project is not about privatizing the public education sector.
