MoE pulls eight books from school libraries over improper content

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: Ministry of Education has extracted 8 books of various educational stages that incorporate ideas and illustrations deemed improper from the libraries in schools, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

The step follows complaints submitted by several concerned officials and guardians against the content of the books, and the Director of Libraries Sector Ahmad Al-Kandari has addressed the directors of educational zones and religious institute to remove some books available in the school libraries without delay, the sources said.

For his part, Al-Kandari stressed the need to address librarians in the schools to confine the books in question until concerned authorities have taken appropriate action in this domain. Meanwhile, Assistant Dean for Research and High Studies at the College of Law in Kuwait University Dr Sami Al-Douraiei has unveiled a plan to offer joint master degree programs in the colleges of Law and Foreign Studies, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a recent interview with the daily, Al-Douraiei called for increasing the university’s budget in order to achieve the development goals of its colleges. He also suggested the establishment of a center affiliated to the National Assembly and includes members specialized in the law to serve as reference for the existing legal texts.
