‘Missing’ woman back from US

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Officers at Kuwait International Airport arrested a Kuwaiti woman who was referred to the Public Prosecution for traveling illegally to the United States of America, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the woman was reported missing by her family in Jahra three months ago and the security authorities have been looking for her since then.

The passport officers were surprised when they checked the records of the woman who came from the US as she was reported ‘missing’. During interrogation, the woman admitted that she hoodwinked the passport officer who let her pass without stamping her passport. She added that even the officers assigned at the boarding gate did not check her passport.

Authorities are now reviewing the CCTV camera recordings to determine whether an official helped the woman leave the country or not. Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, police arrested a Kuwaiti woman wanted by law for failure to pay her debt amounting to KD 40,000, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily added the woman was arrested at a police checkpoint in Salwa and then she was referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

Asian held with one kilo heroin
An Asian expatriate was arrested in Fahaheel area in possession of one kilogram of heroin and crystal meth. According to security sources, when Ahmadi securitymen received information about an Asian expatriate involved in drug peddling, they carried out investigations to confi rm the information. An undercover agent was sent to the suspect to purchase one gram of heroin. During the transaction, the suspect was arrested in possession of one kilogram of heroin and crystal meth. He was referred with the drugs to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
