Ministry approves three new textbooks for secondary stage

KUWAIT CITY, March 11: Assistant Undersecretary for Curricula and Educational Research Affairs at Ministry of Education Dr Saoud Al-Harbi revealed that the ministry has approved three new textbooks for the secondary stage which will be used in the coming school year of 2016/2017, reports Aljarida daily. He said the ministry has completed preparing and editing one of the textbooks titled ‘History of Kuwait’ which is aimed to teach students about the history of Kuwait since its establishment and to bolster their loyalty and patriotism. He explained that this new textbook, unlike the current history textbook, contains important details.

It will be taught to students of Grade 10. Al-Harbi revealed that the other textbooks prepared by the ministry are one on Social Sciences and other on Economy, which are both intended for students of Grade 11. He explained that the aim of these textbooks is to provide students with basic information about the related topics which will in turn help them in completing their higher studies in the future.

He affirmed that the ministry has completed all procedures related to publishing the books, revealing that the students will receive these new textbooks in the beginning of the coming year. In addition, Al-Harbi indicated that the reason for restoring the previous method of teaching Arabic language for primary level students was because that method was more suitable for the students of Kuwait.
