Minister to retire top officer over airport ‘security lapses’; 33 people arrested

KUWAIT CITY, March 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has decided to refer the Director General of Kuwait International Airport, Major General Faisal Al-Saneen to retirement after a psychologically troubled woman managed to bypass airport security measures including all inspection and check points and reach a Qatari plane, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources. They revealed that the minister is dissatisfied about the repeated incidents related to intrusions including the incident of an Asian expatriate who managed to sneak into the plane of the Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior last year.

33 people arrested: Officers from Public Security Sector arrested 33 individuals in possession of drugs during security campaigns held in all six governorates recently, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to a security source, the arrested individuals included 13 Kuwaitis, 10 Egyptians, 5 Saudis, 4 Bedouns, and a Filipino. The officers arrested 13 suspects in Hawally, 7 in Jahra and the rest in the Capital, Ahmadi and Farwaniya governorates.

Criticism over ‘selfie’: A storm of criticism has been raised by people from the educational field after the director general of an educational zone took a ‘selfie’ with his mobile phone’s camera while some female teachers were standing behind him, reports Al- Anba daily.
