MEW’s request for consultant rejected

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: Ministry of Finance has refused to employ an international consultant for preparing the tender of Nuwaiseeb Station Project, which is supposed to produce 3,000MW in the fi rst phase, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that Ministry of Electricity and Water had requested for the appointment of an international consultant for the tender but Ministry of Finance rejected the request, justifying it by referring to the austere measures adopted by Ministry of Finance on projects to be implemented in the future.

The consultant was supposed to be assigned with the preparing the design, technical specifi cations for the tender and conditions for the contractors as well as study the offers of companies biding for the tender and follow up the implementation of the project. However, meetings will soon be held by offi cials from both ministries to discuss this aspect. Meanwhile, sources said the State Audit Bureau also rejected the appointment of an international consultant for choosing appropriate locations to construct power stations and water purifi – cation plants
